Street Children Programme

Voice of Street’s (VoS) Street Children campaign first began in 2012 after a chance meeting with street children on the streets of Pokhara. Through the generous donations of family, friends and wellwishers, VoS have delivered various outreach programmes over the years building the self esteem and confidence of the street children through art, health and sanitation and exercise programmes.
The Street Children’s campaign has been extended to include campaigning for the rights of street children and raising awareness of the consequences of street life through its Promote, Prevent and Protect programme.

Promote

VoS runs various campaigns to promote the rights of children in Kaski through its work with the media, in communities and schools and by its support for the cause through its public rallies.

Prevent

VoS aims to prevent the influx of street children to the streets of Kaski through its awareness and education programmes in rural and urban communities and schools. The programme is delivered to marginalised communities who live in urban slum and rural areas. VoS focuses on working with the mother community and community leaders on how they can help prevent children coming to the streets.

Protect

Child protection is at the forefront of VoS’s work. It collaborates with the Child Protection Office to keep children safe from harm. It is through the close collaboration with these organisations and outreach work which identifies the most vulnerable children, children are referred to services which allow them to  receive support, recuperate and rehabilitate from life on the streets.
